rain, rain, go away!

In case you haven't heard, the Gulf Coast received a TON of rain this weekend.  Roads were flooded, people being rescued, etc.  Where were we?  At Dauphin Island - attempting to go snapper fishing.  Smart, huh?

So I mentioned on Memorial weekend that we caught lots of snapper the week before the season opened.  That weekend we planned a fishing trip with Mary & Poe and our new friends, Steve & Leslie (we've known them for a while, but somehow are just now starting to hang out.  Don't know what took so long!).  The weatherman predicted rain, but I think we were all in denial and were convinced the storm "would pass."  Well, it didn't.  Two attempts were made to take Steve's boat offshore, but when you starting thinking about the best access to a life jacket - it's time to turn back!  We still had a good time hanging around the house, boat cruises around the island, and we definitely ate well.  I didn't take too many pictures unfortunately, but here are a few...

It may not have been the weekend we expected, but we still had a good time.  Beats sitting at home!  Unfortunately, I don't think we will all be able to all get together again before snapper season ends :(
